Shake Shack started in New York but we were unable to eat there as the queues were so disgustingly long. So, when we spotted this Shake Shack in Chicago with a less insane line, we jumped on the chance to try the famous burgers and hot dog. A lot of New Yorkers claim that Shake Shack has "the best burgers" so let's see how their burgers stand to the taste test!

The loot |
Mind you, you will need to queue to order before you're handed a buzzer and then wait about 15 more minutes before your food is ready for collection. If you're eating in, it's best if you asked your friend(s) to keep a look out for an available table as seats are very limited.
Joanne doesn't eat beef and thus, we ordered the Chicken Dog (above) as well as a vegetarian burger (not shown). Interestingly enough, Shake Shack started off as a hot dog stand in New York City in 2004 in Madison Square Park. Their offering was so popular that they're now all over the States and even in overseas! Unfortunately, they're not in Asia yet although news state that they'll open their first Asian branch in Tokyo.

Shack Stack Burger |
I ordered the Shack Stack burger, which is a cheeseburger with a 'shroom burger topped with lettuce and tomato. What's a 'shroom burger? It's a portobello mushroom stuffed with cheese and fried till the batter is crispy.

Look at the cheese oozing out |
My burger was damn good. The bread, which is a non-GMO potato roll, was very soft and fluffy. The beef was char grilled and retained that smokey taste while the mushroom and cheese just added to the taste experience. I also liked the fact that their beef is 100% Angus that does not contain any hormones and antibiotics.
Ok. I now know what the fuss is all about. For US$9.49+, this burger was ethically delicious. Is it
the best? Hmm...not too sure about that as the one from '3 Guys' could give it a good run although price-wise, Shake Shake doesn't make such a dent on your wallet and you do not need to give tips.
