When you're in Chicago, it is a MUST to try their Deep Dish Pizza. Yes, it's an excuse to eat loads of cheese and it's more of a pie than a pizza. But look at that...
Instead of going to the restaurant, we decided to stay in our awesome Airbnb apartment (it was really gorgeous) and ordered in from Giordano's. If you choose to do the same, please note that the deep dish pizza will take an hour to be delivered as the whole thing takes a longer time to be baked. As it was our first time trying it, we decided to go for the large Chicago Classic which had pepperoni, mushrooms, onions and bell peppers for about US$46.
I liked that the crust was more like pastry than the usual doughy pizza crust! It was quite yummy and cheese lovers will truly appreciate it. There was a huge amount of cheese and as a result, I couldn't eat more than 1.5 slices despite how hungry I was. We Singaporeans would describe it as too jerlat. Definitely couldn't eat this repeatedly. Once a month/year is more than enough. Definitely not for the lactose intolerant.
There are so many restaurants offering Chicago Deep Dish Pizza, so I'll suggest checking out the Wikipedia page first before deciding which store you'd like to visit.
If you're in Singapore, unfortunately, there isn't a restaurant offering Chicago style deep dish. :( Oh well...perhaps it'll be a good enough reason to visit Chicago?
